Interstellar Pinhead

Horror movie sequels are usually popular, and audiences want the next big shock. Horror movie villains in space? Here are 5 space-bound horror movie antagonists. Others were unsuccessful.

The Leprechaun

The Leprechaun horror film series' sleeper is Leprechaun 4: In Space. Yes, it is set in space, but that is precisely what makes it so mind-numbingly fantastic. Leprechaun 4 is an excellent illustration of how to convert a completely ludicrous idea into something really "unique." The film is jam-packed with realistic effects, innovative killings, and hilarious Leprechaun lines that will have you rolling on the floor. Leprechaun 4: In Space is a must-see for fans of the Leprechaun franchise or horror films in general.

Pinhead

Prequel and sequel rolled into one, Hellraiser: Bloodline is a must-see for fans of the horror genre. The plot covers three separate historical periods: the 1700s, the 1990s, and the 2200s. I didn't have big hopes for the fourth film in the series since, let's face it, I'm just here for Pinhead and the Cenobites. It is always a delight to watch Doug Bradley play because he retains that chilly, menacing, and demonic vibe. This makes no logic and is tough to understand, but who cares about any of those things? The moments with Pinhead, even if you've watched Hellraiser to its conclusion, are still worth seeing if only for their sheer terror. If you loved Hellraiser or any of the other works by Clive Barker, you should check out this one for sure. Even though there isn't a whole lot of logic to it, it's still a tremendously interesting ride.

Critters

I was attracted by Critters 4's space setting. I mean, how could they beat prior Critters movies? I didn't like the cast list. Brad Dourif Angela Bassett The Danish actor Anders Hove? It didn't seem possible.

And I was right after seeing Critters 4. Lousy tale, horrible characters, and a rip-off of other properties in a bad locale. What bothers fans is that the elements that made earlier entries distinctive and enjoyable are gone or not present. Critters 4 is a massive disaster.

Dracula

Dracula 3000 is an almost unwatchable awful horror movie. Dracula 3000 irritates me. Even though it's terrible throughout, the finale left me dissatisfied. "Dracula in Space" was so horrible it was dreadful, not excellent. Fun notion, but terrible performance and language. If you want a bad day, watch it.

Also, Coolio. It features Coolio. Have I mentioned this?

Jason Voorhees

The most famous horror movie sequel in which the bad guy goes to space is Jason X. Jason Voorhees is the person, the legend, and the myth. It doesn't matter how he got into space. No one cares why he's in space. Jason being in space and ready to cause trouble is all that matters.

I think Jason X is entertaining (original blog) to watch for the transformation of Jason into Uber Jason as well as the Easter eggs and throwbacks to prior Friday the 13th flicks.

Not everyone will like this film, but fans of campy slashers will love it.

Conclusion

Horror movie sequels are a VERY mixed bag. As in Leprechaun 4: In Space, there are sequels that take an already absurd idea and elevate it to a new level of awesomeness. Others, like Dracula 3000, are so terrible they're virtually unwatchable. If you're a horror movie enthusiast, it's certainly worth checking out some of the most iconic horror movie sequels in space. It's possible that you'll discover a new favorite horror film.
